Candice Aston - Physiotherapist and Osteopathic Manual Practitioner- MScP.T., D.O.M.P. HBSc.H.K. (Owner)
Candice Aston graduated from the University of Guelph with an honours bachelors of science in Human Kinetics in 2001. In 2006 she graduated from the University of Toronto with a Masters of Science in Physiotherapy. She has extensive experience working in the rehabilitation setting helping people recover from pain and other health issues.
In 2015, Candice graduated from the Canadian College of Osteopathy with a Diploma in Osteopathic Manual practice (D.O.M.P.). This has furthered her extensive knowledge of the human body and how to help her patients recover their overall health and well being. With over 12 years of post graduate education, Candice has a wide variety of techniques and tools to use for many health conditions. She did her thesis with the Canadian College of Osteopathy on those suffering with jaw problems, however using the general principles of osteopathy she treats the body as a whole no matter what the condition.
The combination of Physiotherapy and Osteopathy give an immense amount of expertise and training that can help you recover your overall health. Candice has also done numerous post-graduate courses in exercise prescription, chronic pain, manual therapy and acupuncture.
Claudie Melancon - Osteopathy (intern)
Claudie, who is passionate about health and wellness, decided to pursue her studies in osteopathy which has the global vision of the human being as mind, body, spirit.
Claudie graduated from her bachelors of Osteopathic Manual Therapy in December 2018 at Collège d’Études Ostéopathique de Montréal. She is currently working on her thesis to complete her master’s that is focusing on postural balance in the elderly.
Claudie’s treatment approach varies from efficient gentleness to precise rugosity, to adapt to a wide range of patients from childhood to elderly including athletes.
Ryan Mercier - Student
Ryan Mercier was born and raised in Timmins Ontario. He graduated from Roland Michener High school in 2010 and then completed a four year Bachelors of science degree at Laurentian University with a specialization in psychology. After completing his degree he did further training with a 200 YTT yoga training course at the Bodhi Tree hot yoga studio.
Ryan is currently in his third year of Osteopathy training and is passionate about his studies and eager to start providing treatments to the people in his hometown community. He continues to teach yoga and is also helping coach the Timmins Majors hockey team.
Ryan has always had an interest in sports and human movement and is now able to provide his expertise and knowledge with his manual therapy treatments at Aston Wellness Clinic.
Kellie Monahan - Registered Massage Therapist (RMT)
Kellie Monahan successfully completed the Massage Therapy program with honours in 2010 and is a registered member of the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO) and also an active member with the Registered Ontario Massage Therapists Association of Ontario (RMTAO).
Kellie can effectively treat conditions related to repetitive stress, poor posture, sport injuries, TMJ disorders, nagging muscle tension, stress/anxiety and chronic pain syndromes. She also enjoys working with expectant mothers and offer pre-natal massage.
Jennifer Laflamme - Certified Personal Trainer, Certified Yoga Instructor
Jenn Laflamme graduated from Loyalist College in 2002 with a diploma in Fitness and Health Promotion. She has been a Certified Personal Trainer through the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology (CPT-CSEP) since 2002 and has completed various other continued education courses in fitness, health, and nutrition. After graduation, Jenn spent 10 years working for the military as a Fitness Coordinator/Instructor; in that time, she completed two overseas deployments in Bosnia and Afghanistan, as well as short assignment in Alert, Nunavut. During the time working with the military she delivered individualized exercise prescription programs to Canadian Forces Military Members, group physical fitness classes, fitness and occupational testing, program development and implementation, and she worked with a physiotherapist to assist with the rehabilitation process of clients.
In addition to this wealth of diverse experience, Jenn has also been teaching yoga for over 15 years. She completed her first yoga training course in 2005, when she was providing classes to the military. Jenn completed YTT (yoga teacher training) in 2011 to become a certified yoga teacher.
Jenn left working for the military and moved to Timmins in 2013. Despite the change in address, she never lost her passion for fitness, health and wellbeing. She continued to teach yoga and fitness classes, as well as bootcamp/group fitness exercise training programs.
Jenn has been working with Candice Aston as a physiotherapist assistant, providing physiotherapy and yoga-based therapy since December 2016. She has a great deal of experience working with various clientele to alleviate the symptoms of chronic pain, Motor Vehicle Accidents, muscle tension/pain, stress and anxiety. She uses various relaxation and meditation techniques.
In order to fully encompass the collaborative mind, body, soul approach, Jen is currently completing her honours bachelor in social work program through Algoma University.
