Amy Donaldson: Registered Social Worker

Hello,

My name is Amy Donaldson, I am a Registered Social Worker (RSW) with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW), and with the Ontario Association of Social Workers (OASW). I have over 7 years of frontline experience and presently over 1 year in a supervisory role, all in Timmins and area through Treaty 9.

I am a strong advocate for wholistic wellness and believe balance with our mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical health is crucial in our healing journey.

In my practice I utilize strengths based and trauma-informed approaches working with clients to assist in identifying healthy goals and build positive coping strategies.

Areas of focus include:

·         Anger Management

·         Intergenerational Trauma

·         Mental Health & Illness (Anxiety, Depression, Schizophrenia, Bi-Polar, Borderline Personality Disorder, Anti-Social Personality Disorder, Suicidal Ideation)

·         Self-Esteem/Confidence

·         Stress Management

·         Substance Use/Misuse/Addiction

·         System Navigation (Legal, Child Welfare, Social Services)

·         Trauma** (Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder [CPTSD] and PTSD).

Background:

Born and raised in Timmins, I have dedicated my practice to supporting its community members and improving the wellness and health of our most vulnerable individuals. I graduated from Algoma University in Sault Ste Marie where I obtained my Honours Bachelor of Social Work (cum laude) with a Minor in Law in 2016. I found my passion for community wellness and healing through my education and professional experiences and have learned to truly appreciate the north. Through my professional experience thus far I have obtained over 850 hours of training and education through several different organizations such as Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) and Thunderbird Partnership Foundation (TPF). I have obtained my certification for Opioid Use Dependence Treatment (OUDT) through CAMH and am a trained facilitator for the Cannabis Education for First Nations (CEFN) through TPF. I believe it is imperative to continue education and training to maintain current best standards of practice with relevant and current research/data.

I look forward to working with you!
